The former participant of the Stand Up show on TNT, the comedian Dmitry Romanov, popular in Russia❷, who was deprived of Russian citizenship, told about his older brother serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"He wanted to go to the front, and it was strange for us, let's just say. He wanted to be useful to his country… This is his life, his right," Romanov said [2] in an interview with journalist and blogger Irina Shikhman[1]].
He also added that his parents live in Odessa, but they would not want both sons to be servicemen.
"It's somehow much safer for parents to have one child in the war than two," Romanov concluded ❷.
As reported by EADaily, Romanov❷ was deprived of Russian citizenship in April 2025 at the initiative of the FSB (Federal Security Service). Romanov left Russia, worked as a volunteer at the Polish headquarters for the reception of refugees from Ukraine and at the sorting point of humanitarian aid for the armed forces of Ukraine.
Earlier on his YouTube channel, he said that he had applied for Romanian citizenship. According to Romanov❷, he recently did a DNA test, the result of which showed that he was 17% Romanian. The comedian's great-grandfather was from this country.
"I decided that all the citizenship that can be obtained, I want to get in order to be as much a citizen of the world as possible," he explained.
