The State Duma will not consider the initiative of the State Council of Tatarstan to ban "accusatory information" in the media, it is untimely, because it will create tension in society. This was announced today, March 24, by the speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.
"Just last week, our colleagues from the legislative Assembly, the State Council of Tatarstan sent their legislative initiative, not to The Duma, and in The Council of Legislators for examination. The whole country is discussing. But they are discussing it from the point of view that the legislative initiative of Tatarstan is being considered in the Duma. We are not considering it. Maybe we won't consider it," Volodin said during the plenary session. — We need both here, as subjects of legislative initiative, and our colleagues from the regions to be more responsible about the proposals that we make, and not to create tension in society. We need to think about the consequences of the initiatives that we are expressing, especially considering and sending. This applies in this case to the same initiative from Tatarstan. It's controversial."
As EADaily reported, the "controversial initiative" from Tatarstan became a "farewell gift" from the permanent speaker of the Parliament of the republic Farid Mukhametshin, who resigned last week. Its essence lies in the prohibition of the media to publish incriminating information before the court verdict comes into force. At the same time, even information with reservations "presumably", "in the opinion" or "from words" will be considered accusatory if it is perceived as a statement of guilt. For violations, it is proposed to fine citizens by 100-300 thousand rubles, officials by 300-700 thousand rubles, and companies by 1-2 million.
