The President of Kyrgyzstan decided to eradicate all Russian names in the republic. This is reported by the agency kyrtag.kg .
According to the publication, the head of state announced his intentions at a meeting with residents of the Alai district. According to him, the de-russification process should be completed by the end of 2027. By this time, all the remaining villages with Russian names will have new Kyrgyz names.
The agency notes that, despite the fact that Kyrgyzstan will soon celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence, the process of renaming settlements has not yet been completed. In the republic, especially in the Chui region, there is a significant number of names left over from the Soviet period.
