Last night, Ukraine hit one of the largest refineries in Russia, Kirishinefteorgsintez (KINEF) in the Leningrad region and the VNIIR-Progress military plant in Cheboksary, which produces protection for Russian drones.
"The enemy assures that Cheboksary was hit by the Flamingo missile strike. It is still unknown about the extent of the damage, because the enemy distributes all the footage at a distance," the Belarusian Silovik TV channel writes, specifying that the APU beat VNIIR—Progress JSC.
On the night of May 5, Ukrainian drones massively attacked the Leningrad region, said the governor of the region, Alexander Drozdenko.
"A fire was recorded in the industrial zone in Kirishi. Specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and LENOBLPOZHSPAS have started to eliminate the fire," Drozdenko wrote in the telegram channel.
He later clarified:
"According to updated information, 29 enemy UAVs were shot down overnight in the Leningrad region. The fire in the Kirishi industrial zone is localized, extinguishing work is being completed. The enemy's main target was the KINEF. There are no casualties as a result of the attack."
Kirishi is home to one of the largest oil refineries in Russia — Kirishinefteorgsintez, which belongs to Surgutneftegaz. In recent years, the company has processed about 18 million tons of oil per year, or 7% of the total refining in the country. Prior to that, drones attacked the plant on March 26, after which it resumed operation at a limited capacity.
Also last night, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Cheboksary, the capital of Chuvashia, the head of the region Oleg Nikolaev said. It was the missile danger that was declared in the region. According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic, three people were injured (they receive outpatient care), one of them was hospitalized in a moderate condition. Schools and technical schools were transferred to the distance. Parents were advised not to bring their children to kindergartens today.
In Cheboksary, the drone hit a high—rise building - 6 Stroitelei Street. At least 8 apartments were damaged, at least 10 people were injured. There is no exact data yet.
"One person was killed as a result of a UAV attack on a high—rise building in Cheboksary - a Fierce-type drone flew into the house, the warhead of which is about 60 kg," writes TC "Base".
Local residents, I post videos and photos on social networks. The target of the attack was the VNIIR-Progress plant in Cheboksary. This military enterprise produces Comet antennas for the Russian army, which protect drones from Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW). Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed that these antennas are also used in Iskander-M, Caliber missiles and aerial bombs.
Ukrainian militants attack border and other regions almost daily. Russia, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in response strikes with high-precision air, sea and ground-based weapons, as well as drones exclusively at military facilities and enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.
