Israeli citizen David Kabiri has died. He became widely known in the media as a "book thief" who robbed the Russian National Library (RNB) in St. Petersburg of 139 million rubles. Details are reported by <url>.
The information about the death of Kabiri Sr. was confirmed by his son Amir Gross Kabiri. Judging by the message, the "book thief" died in the family circle.
If we talk about theft, then we are talking about the events of 1994. Then Kabiri, along with his accomplice Tsion Levi, entered the territory of the RNB at night, snacking on an iron chain on the gate with a tool. Then, through the window, they got inside the building, from where they stole ancient manuscripts and manuscripts.
Both were tried in Israel. Kabiri and Levi were found guilty of theft and sentenced to 6 months in prison with a fine of 13 thousand dollars.
