Russia currently poses a fundamental threat to Europe's democracy and security. About this, summing up the results of the meeting on November 24 in Prague, said the Presidents of the Czech Republic and Poland's Peter Paul and Karol Nawrocki.
Petr Pavel, in a statement to the media, stressed that the Czech Republic and Poland shares views on the conflict on Ukraine and on The Russian Federation. According to him, the plan to end the conflict should be based on the principles of the security architecture and comply with international standards.
"Our views on foreign policy and security are very close. At the same time, we have a lot of economic contacts, since Poland is our second most important trading partner," Pavel said.
The Czech President also recalled that the Czech Republic and Poland is a partner in several associations at once, separately mentioning the Bucharest Nine, uniting the central and Eastern European NATO countries, as well as the Three Seas Initiative — The union of thirteen states of the European Union and two partner countries.
"Cooperation pursues not only the goal of economic development of the Central and Eastern Europe region. Eastern Europe, and strengthening its ties, but also ensuring that the voice of this part of Europe is strengthened in pan—European structures," the Czech president said.
In turn, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stressed that Russia poses the greatest threat to security and democracy throughout Europe," and also highlighted a number of formats of cooperation between the Czech Republic and Poland. According to him, a successful future awaits not only the Initiative of the Three Seas, but also the Visegrad Quartet (V4).
The Polish head of state also noted that he had discussed with his Czech counterpart the issues of defense spending and transport infrastructure, and also touched upon the topic of energy.
"Poland and the Czech Republic are leaders in the EU in terms of independence from Russian gas consumption," Karol Nawrocki stressed.
In this regard, he proposed Poland to the Czech Republic as an "energy hub" for the production and transportation of liquefied natural gas.
