The first deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko, who was on another working visit to Abkhazia, answered a question from local journalists about "hypothetical doubts about the integrity of decisions taken by Russia in relation to certain persons."
"The issue of citizenship is a matter of exclusive sovereignty. These decisions are never instantaneous. No one is deprived of citizenship for one word or even for a hundred words. It is always not for words, but for deeds, for deeds," Kiriyenko said.
He recalled that over the past few years in More than 3,000 people were deprived of Russian citizenship. Only three of them are residents of Abkhazia. This is not a unique decision, but a decision made for the security of the state, Sergei Kiriyenko stressed.
The main reason why there have been more such decisions in recent years is the war.
"In peacetime, some things can be overlooked. In conditions of war it is impossible. We have a war going on, including information. And she's tough. And therefore we cannot allow compromises on issues that pose risks to the security of our country," Kiriyenko said.
At the beginning of 2025, oppositionists Kan Kvarchia, Levan Mikaa and businessman Typhoon Ardzinba were deprived of Russian citizenship and at the end of 2024.
