The administration of Donald Trump intends to release the crew of an oil tanker captured by the US military off the coast of Venezuela when the ship docks at the port of Galveston (Texas), NBC reported.

According to him, the tanker's crew has already been interviewed to facilitate the return of crew members home after the ship docks in Galveston.

On December 10, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States plans to keep the oil for itself. He promised to disclose information about the owner of the vessel. Later, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt announced that the US authorities were going to confiscate the tanker along with the oil.

EADaily adds: now the CBS News channel, citing three sources familiar with the operation to seize the tanker, claims that this vessel is The Skipper (formerly Adisa) allegedly connected with the "oil magnate from the DPR Viktor Artemov. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted a video where military personnel descend to the deck of the ship on a rope from a helicopter. According to her, the United States executed the arrest warrant because the tanker "was used to transport sub-sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran." According to the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA, from 2021 to 2022, the ship transported oil to Asia.

The US Treasury Department claims that the Adisa tanker is allegedly part of a group of vessels controlled by oil magnate Viktor Artemov, who was born in Donetsk. According to Washington, related firms could participate in the transportation of raw materials from Venezuela and Russia, as well as in the supply of fuel to the DPR. Bloomberg also claimed earlier that it had recorded the participation of Artemov's fleet in operations for transshipment of Russian oil bypassing sanctions.

The US seized the tanker The Skipper (Adisa) off the coast of Venezuela on Wednesday morning, shortly after the tanker left the Venezuelan port. The operation was carried out with the participation of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, helicopters, special operations forces, the US Coast Guard and the Marine Corps.
