Two years later, the German concern Rheinmetall agreed on the allocation of a site for the construction of a plant for the production of artillery shells for Ukraine. In this regard, Russian military correspondents raised the topic that the Germans "are not afraid of Russian weapons and are sure that nothing will arrive."
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger announced the allocation of a land plot to the company by the Ukrainian authorities for the construction of a plant for the production of artillery shells. The decision has been delayed since 2024 due to bureaucracy and corruption. Legally, the Ukrainian Centre of Excellence for Ammunition company has already been established under the enterprise, where Rheinmetall owns 51% of shares, Ukraine — 49%.
According to the most optimistic estimates, the plant will be built no earlier than the end of 2026, and will probably be intended for the final assembly of artillery shells (packing and loading of explosives), the telegram channel "Two Majors" draws attention.
In general, Rheinmetall is actively developing production at Ukraine. So, in June 2024, a Rheinmetall repair service was opened in the western part of Ukraine for the maintenance of military equipment (Marder BBM, Leopard 1 tanks). Questions about the deployment of Lynx BMP production lines and Skynex air defense systems are also being worked out.
"It means not to be afraid of the Krauts of Russian weapons and we are sure that nothing will arrive at these enterprises," the Two Majors sum up.
