The cause of the Iryo train crash near the Spanish city of Adamus (Cordoba province), which killed 45 people, could be a crack in the welded seam of the rail. These are the results of the preliminary report of the Commission for the Investigation of Railway Accidents (CIAF), published on January 23.

According to experts, identical tracks were found on the wheels on the right side of cars No. 2, 3, 4 and 5, coinciding with the place of the rail break., In their opinion, the tracks appeared due to the train hitting the rail head where its integrity had already been violated. During the passage of the fifth car, the rail began to tilt outward, and the sixth car went off the track due to complete loss of contact with the canvas, the conclusion says.

It was this car that first slid off the rails, dragging the next two with it.

As EADaily reported on January 18, a train traveling from Malaga to Madrid derailed in Cordoba. The train left for the neighboring tracks, which caused the derailment of the second train. The accident killed 45 people, injured at least 484 passengers.
