The Ministry of Defense for the first time officially announced the downing of Ukrainian cruise missiles "Flamingo". The agency reported this in the daily summary of hostilities.
"By means of air defense, five Flamingo long—range cruise missiles, six guided aerial bombs, eight HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems manufactured by the United States and 211 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down," the summary says.
According to the telegram channel "Military Chronicle", this is the first direct mention of the interception of missiles in the official reports of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. "Flamingos" were shot down, presumably, not far from the arsenals of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) in the Kotlubani district of the Volgograd region, TK notes.
This morning, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in its telegram channel that at night Flamingo missiles allegedly hit one of the largest Russian ammunition arsenals in Kotlubani, Volgograd region. According to him, powerful explosions with subsequent secondary detonation were allegedly recorded, "but the extent of the damage is still being clarified."
The governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov, in turn, informed about the missile attack on the object of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation near the village of Kotluban.
"Tonight, the air defense units of the Russian Ministry of Defense repel a missile attack on the territory of the Volgograd region. As a result of falling debris, a fire broke out on the territory of the Ministry of Defense facility near the village of Kotluban. Firefighting services of the region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Defense. There are no injured residents and no damage to civilian objects. In order to ensure the safety of the civilian population from the threat of detonation during firefighting, evacuation of the population of the nearby settlement of Kotluban has been announced and is underway," the head of the region writes in his telegram channel.
