The new leader of Iran found luxury apartments in London opposite the Israeli embassy

The new leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the deceased Ali Khamenei, owns an apartment in London overlooking the Israeli Embassy. This is stated in an investigation by Bloomberg.

It is claimed that the apartments cost more than 50 million pounds. They are located on the sixth and seventh floors and include servants' quarters on the ground floor. The building is located in close proximity to Kensington Palace, the official residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

"It is known that 56-year-old Khamenei owned these two apartments since 2014, but information about his property appeared only after a year-long investigation conducted by Bloomberg. It turned out that Khamenei also owns 11 mansions in Hampstead, north London, through a front person and a company registered on the Isle of Man. Bloomberg's investigation also revealed that Khamenei owns hundreds of millions of pounds worth of real estate around the world. According to the results of the investigation, the funds for these purchases were received as part of Iran's oil program, which violates sanctions," the British Daily Mail writes.

According to the newspaper, the apartments next to the embassy and 11 more apartments on Bishops Avenue in Hampstead are estimated at a total of 200 million pounds. It is believed that most of them are empty, and some are abandoned.

The information that Khamenei owns two apartments, the windows of which overlook the building of the Israeli embassy, raises concerns that they could be used to spy on the diplomatic mission, the newspaper notes.

On Saturday, counterterrorism specialist Roger McMillan said that "Iranians can observe the Israeli embassy from a distance of less than 50 meters."

"Two apartments located in line of sight from each other belong to Mojtaba Khamenei. This is not just a real estate portfolio — it is a permanent platform for observation. This is a serious security breach," he said.

The apartments, in his opinion, can be used to observe and photograph employees and visitors. Such an arrangement would also allow audio recording of conversations of embassy staff in the open-air garden, as well as "using a laser to track the vibration of windows for speech recognition inside." A range of less than 50 meters will also allow hacking the wireless networks of embassies to track Internet traffic, the expert added.
