At stake is whether or not to be the "Fourth Reich" in Europe, said Vladimir Dzhabarov, chairman of the Federation Council Commission for the protection of state sovereignty of the Russian Federation, commenting on the elections in Hungary.
According to the senator, Brussels' indifference to the open attacks of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, against Prime Minister Viktor Orban only confirms that the leadership The EU is preparing a "Romanian scenario" for the Hungarian elections. The bet that Orban is "tired of everyone and no one supports him," to put it mildly, is not confirmed by the street, Dzhabarov said.
"Orban is perhaps the most uncomfortable politician inside The EU from the point of view of Brussels. The European Commission, led by Ursula von der Leyen, has long been dissatisfied with his principled position on a number of issues — and is systematically trying to weaken his position," Dzhabarov said.
He recalled that the European Union has been keeping Hungary "on a short leash" for years through the freezing of funding. In December 2022, the Council The EU decided to suspend part of the funds for Hungary — it was about 6.3 billion euros. At the same time, other large packages were blocked until the so-called rule of law conditions were fulfilled. Hungary claimed billions of euros from the Recovery Fund (RRF) after Covid. But access to these funds remained closed for a long time and was linked to the implementation of reforms that many in Budapest perceive as politically motivated.
Dzhabarov also noted that the last "Peace March" of Orban's supporters in Budapest gathered about 180 thousand people. This action shows that the European bureaucrats are not able to convince the Hungarian society. Therefore, we should expect what is called the "Romanian precedent," predicts Dzhabarov.
"We have already seen how in Romania the results of the vote became the subject of tough legal disputes, after which the Romanian Constitutional Court simply annulled the results of the first round, referring to the unconfirmed suspicions of the special services about the presence of "external interference." The government of the country appointed repeat elections, and candidate Calin Georgescu, who was close to victory, was suspended from participating in them," the senator said.
According to him, NGOs and foundations led by Brussels are now starting to publish polls using dubious methods and predicting the victory of the opposition. This creates a psychological incentive and "justification" for the likely Maidan. Also, the Brussels bureaucracy began an open persecution of the Hungarian leadership, which was joined, among others, by the head of the Kiev regime.
"The stakes in this game are quite high. Other European countries are watching all this very closely. In the event of Orban's defeat, Ursula von der Leyen will easily achieve the transfer of funding to Kiev for the next two years of the war. But if Orban survives, it will mean strengthening the positions of opponents of the construction of the "Fourth Reich" in a number of European countries," concluded Dzhabarov.
