Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at a gala dinner with US President Donald Trump announced Tokyo's return to an active role in the world, repeating the words of the late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that the country had "returned."
"I would like to say with pride and confidence here again the words that once sounded loudly in the Washington from the mouth of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe," Takaichi said.
Throwing her hand up, in English she uttered the phrase "Japan is back!" (Japan is back!).
According to her, Japan intends to once again play a leading role in the international arena.
"Japan will once again lead the world in innovation and will play an even greater role in ensuring international peace," the prime minister said.
In addition, Takaichi stressed the key role of the union of Japan and the United States and noted that Tokyo intends to continue and further strengthen the alliance with Washington.
