The world-famous Prima Bolshoi became the rector of the Moscow Academy of Choreography

The prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, People's Artist of Russia Svetlana Zakharova has been appointed rector of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (MGAH). This was reported at the university.

"By order of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Zakharova was appointed rector of MGAKH on April 2," TASS quoted the message as saying.

Recall that in September 2024 Zakharova was appointed acting rector of the Academy. Prior to that, for more than 20 years, MGAKH was headed by People's Artist of Russia Marina Leonova.

As EADaily reported, Zakharova was supposed to take part in gala concerts of world ballet stars, which were scheduled for March 20-21 in Rome. However, a few days before the event, it became known that the organizers had withdrawn the invitation of the Russian ballerina.

The actress herself reacted calmly to the cancellation, noting that this is not the first time this has happened.

Later, the organizers admitted that they had "canceled" the Russian ballerina after receiving letters from the Ukrainian Embassy in Italy and a representative of the European Parliament.
