Soviet and Latvian composer Raymond Pauls was not urgently hospitalized, he is undergoing a routine examination. The Maestro himself told the portal "Paragraph" about this.
"There is nothing urgent, journalists, as usual, exaggerate. All this is needed after the operation. It's not an emergency in the hospital, I'm going for an examination," the musician shared.
According to him, now "everything is, in principle, normal."
"It's because of the heart - they changed everything there for me, everything inside," Pauls concluded.
As EADaily reported, the 90-year-old composer had previously had health problems.
So, in the spring of 2024, Pauls was hospitalized for cataract treatment. The operation was successful.
The composer himself then called the situation "nothing life-threatening, cleaned the eye." However, in May of the same year, vision problems worsened and again required hospitalization.
At the end of 2025, the Maestro needed a more serious surgical intervention, which later imposed some restrictions on concert activities, Pauls even said that doctors forbade playing the piano so as not to interfere with recovery.
Later it became known that Pauls was hospitalized again.

In Latvia, the songs of the legendary Maestro were banned
