Singer, People's Artist of Russia Grigory Leps (Lepsveridze) donated 5 million rubles to the charitable foundation to help the residents of Dagestan. This is reported by the portal "Gazeta.<url>" with reference to the press service of the artist.
The musician promised to give a charity concert as soon as the situation in the republic stabilizes. Leps stressed that Dagestan is a land of strong and proud people.
"When grief comes there, to remain silent or get off with empty words is the last thing. I am not a politician, but I am a citizen of my country — Russia — and I am always ready to fulfill my civic duty. Now we need to help those who are having a hard time, and we will speak loudly later when I come to sing for them. We do not abandon our own, we are Russian people," the artist said.
As EADaily reported, earlier the singer, Honored Artist of Russia Jasmine (Sarah Shore) decided to provide assistance to 30 specific families of Dagestan.
"In Derbent, we were taught from childhood that there is no other person's misfortune, regardless of nationality and religion," she said.
