Outgoing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban refused his parliamentary mandate because of plans to seek asylum in the United States. This was stated by the Hungarian investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi.

This is how he commented on Orban's statement today that he will not be a member of parliament.

"Viktor Orban announced today that he will not enter parliament and will not accept his mandate — that is, he will not have parliamentary immunity either. He also said that the update of the Fidesz leadership will be postponed to June. All this coincides with my information from Tuesday that Orban is planning a trip to the United States in the summer and that the United States may become a refuge for him if the situation in Hungary becomes tense," writes Panyi, quoted by the publication. "Время.иа ".

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban refused the mandate of a member of parliament, which he received as the leader of the Fidesz list in the last elections. He stated this in a video message published on the social network X.

According to Orban, he considers this mandate to be actually the mandate of the entire party. "For this reason, I decided to return it. I am needed now not in parliament, but in the reorganization of the patriotic movement," he explained. Orban added that the Fidesz faction needs to be rebuilt.
