The bipartisan initiative to adopt an updated package of sanctions against Russia, proposed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham❶, received the support of more than 60 members of the US Senate. This was announced on July 16 by the Axios portal, citing a source.
"Currently, there are at least 61 co—authors, of which 39 are Republicans and 22 are Democrats," the publication says.
It is specified that the support of the bill by more than 60 senators makes it possible to overcome the procedure for blocking consideration of the initiative in the Senate. At the same time, the document has yet to be approved by the House of Representatives.
According to the portal, the updated document proposes to apply 100% secondary duties to countries that continue cooperation with Russia in the energy sector. The measures may affect such large buyers of Russian resources as China and India, Izvestia clarifies.
