One of those released from the Belarusian prison as part of the international exchange held on April 28 is a citizen of Belarus and was an agent of the Polish special services. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to him, in addition to Polish journalist Andrei Poczobut, a priest and another Belarusian citizen who "cooperated with our special services" were transferred to the Polish side. Tusk also clarified that the Moldovan and Romanian authorities were also involved in the exchange process.

"There were important citizens in our prisons from the point of view of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan. This exchange could not have been successful if our special services had not detained these citizens at some point," the Polish prime minister said.

Tusk also explained that "we needed persons" who, according to him, were allegedly "detained in connection with accusations of actions against Romania, against Moldova."

"I have spoken with the authorities of Moldova and Romania. We managed to come to an agreement," the Polish Prime Minister added.

Recall, as a result of the exchange of prisoners according to the "five for five" formula, Russians were released from Poland — a well-known archaeologist, an employee of the Hermitage, Alexander Butyagin, and the wife of a serviceman who serves in the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Transnistria Nina Popova. Poland also released citizens of Belarus who performed "particularly important tasks in the interests of national security," Alexander Balan and Vladislav Nadeyko. For its part, Minsk handed over to Poland a citizen of Belarus of Polish origin, Andrei Poczobut (who was sentenced to 8 years in prison for a number of extremist articles), Grzegorz Havel and Tomasz Beroza.
