Arrested for robbery of the deputy head of the criminal investigation department of St. Petersburg

On May 11, the Basmanny Court of Moscow sent Colonel Vitaly Lavrishchev, deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of St. Petersburg, to jail on charges of major robbery (part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code), law enforcement agencies told TASS.

"Lavrishchev, deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of St. Petersburg, was arrested in Moscow on charges of robbery on an especially large scale," the court's electronic database confirmed the information there.

The police colonel faces up to 15 years in prison. FSB officers detained Lavrishchev on May 8, at the same time his office was searched. According to investigators, the policeman is connected with the attack on a man from whom $ 300 thousand was stolen.

The incident occurred on December 2, 2022 at the building of the investigative department in the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg. Then several people, led by Maxim Chechin, tried to force the man to give them the money, and after the refusal attacked him. One of the participants sprayed the victim in the face with the contents of a gas weapon, and then a bag with cash was snatched from him. At that time, the amount of damage was estimated at about 18.3 million rubles. According to Fontanka, the testimony against Lavrishchev was given by the former head of the criminal investigation department of the Moskovsky district of St. Petersburg, Aram Mukuchyan, who made a deal with the investigation. He claimed that the colonel could have known about the preparation of the attack. Lavrishchev himself denies guilt.

A criminal case was opened against Chechin. On that day, Chechin and his accomplices arrived at the building of the investigative department in the Moscow district of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and entered the premises of the investigative department, where they introduced themselves to the man as persons acting on behalf of his brother and offered to accompany them with the money. The man refused to voluntarily leave the premises of the investigative department accompanied by them.
