On May 15, leading experts — political scientists, sociologists and party strategists met in Moscow on the basis of the Civil Society Development Foundation. The main topic was the preparation for the 2026 election campaign, which will soon enter the active stage.
A member of the General Council of United Russia, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Regulations, Sergei Perminov, during the discussion, did not move away from the acute public inquiry — why do those who go to power not go to the SMO area? Perminov explained that all registered novice candidates are veterans of the special operation who have already fulfilled their duty to the Motherland and have completely closed all obligations to the Ministry of Defense.
At the moment, the share of such fighters among the candidates from the party for Duma mandates exceeds 12%. Perminov is confident that among the SMO veterans running for deputies, a serious competitive struggle will unfold — up to a confrontation within one faction. During the primaries, disappointments and even personal grievances are possible. But the votes of voters do not automatically go to anyone, they have to be won.
