The UK is urging European countries to prepare for a head-on collision with Russia and wants to prevent the detente of Russian-American relations. This was stated by Alexander Gusarov, director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The British establishment has almost entirely subordinated foreign policy to the task of containing and weakening Russia. Having achieved the rejection of a negotiated settlement from their Kiev clients in the spring of 2022, London consistently and demonstratively, almost with gusto, raised the stakes in the escalation of the conflict by Ukraine, and recently they have also been busy inciting Europeans to reckless militarization and preparing for a head—on collision with Russia," he said in an interview with International Life magazine.
At the same time, Gusarov noted, "the British themselves do not intend to "climb into hell," and they do not have sufficient economic and military capabilities for this."
"On the other hand, relying on a long historical tradition, they apparently expect to cement the dividing lines restored in Europe with the help of intrigues and provocations, as well as prevent a significant detente in Russian-American relations," he stressed.
