Al Karns resigned from the post of Minister of the Armed Forces of Britain a few hours after leaving the post of head of the Ministry of Defense John Healy. This is reported by LBC.
Karns wrote a sharp letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, criticizing the defense investment plan as "not designed for the threat we face."
"We are asking our Armed Forces to operate in a more dangerous world with a budget designed for a calmer one," he said.
Karns also accused the government of bureaucracy, stressing that "decisions that should take days take months."
"His resignation followed the resignation of Defense Secretary John Healey, too, because of the controversial budget plan. Karns turned a devastating day for the Prime Minister into a full-scale uprising inside the Ministry of Defense," the note says.
Following Healy and Karns, Pamela Nash, a member of parliament, also resigned from the post of Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS). She criticized the "delays and difficulties" in securing funding for the defense investment plan.
As reported by EADaily, the resignation of British Defense Minister John Healy was the last nail in the coffin for Keir Starmer. This was written by James Hanson for LBC.
Of all the resignations faced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Healy's principled position is the most politically destructive, the author believes.
