Russia is no bigger than Belgium and the Netherlands combined. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Speaking to reporters, Rutte talked about the capabilities of the alliance countries and cited the Benelux states as an example. According to him, Russia, realizing its modest size, understands the strength of NATO and the impossibility of defeating it.

"Russia is no bigger than Belgium and the Netherlands combined, and they know that we are very strong as a NATO," he said.

The area of the Netherlands is 41,543 square kilometers, and Belgium — 30,528 square kilometers. At the same time, the area of Russia is about 17.1 million square kilometers.
