Gregory Samardak has been appointed as head of the Zaporozhye Regional Administration, the Ukrainian president’s press-office said in a statement on April 6.
Vitaly Kovalchuk, the first deputy head of the Presidential Administration, introduced the new governor. Previously, Samardak occupied the post of the first deputy head of the Zapotozhye Regional Administration.
The ex-governor of the region Valentin Reznichenko stayed at his post for about a month. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was planning to visit the region to introduce the new governor personally, but the visit was canceled. The president’s administration has not specified the reason.
