Moscow was ready for Western countries to show "the notorious EU solidarity," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the Rossiya 1 channel, commenting on the decision of European countries and the United States to expel Russian diplomats regarding the Sergei Skripal poisoning case.
Zakharova called everything that is happening "a total and no longer covered truly Russophobic campaign."
"Undoubtedly, there will be a response to everything we saw today. Appropriate measures will be taken on each country, both regarding the expulsion of diplomats and the closure of the Russian Consulate General in US," she said.
In addition, the representative of the Russian foreign ministry also noted on her Facebook page that "at this time, when all Russians are mourning the victims of the tragedy in Kemerovo, those politicians are putting more emphasis on announcing new hostile actions.”
As EADaily reported earlier, the beginning of the EU solidarity with anti-Russian campaign because of the Skripal case was laid a day before. Russian diplomats are to be expelled by 14 EU countries, as well as Canada. The US announced the expulsion of 60 Russian diplomats and suspension of the Russian consulate in Seattle, which has already stopped receiving visitors.
