After the end of the military conflict, more than a million Ukrainians may decide to emigrate to Poland. This forecast was given by an expert on the labor market, the founder of the Polish company "Personnel Service" Krzysztof Inglot.
According to a study by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the Ukrainian Center for Economic and Political Studies. Razumkova, every fourth Ukrainian man and every fifth Ukrainian woman are considering leaving their country after the end of the conflict.
The analysis shows that in 2023, the contribution of Ukrainian migrants to Poland's GDP ranged from 0.7 to 1.1 percent. According to the portal "Banker.Pl", Ukrainians help fill gaps in key sectors of the labor market, providing stability to many companies. A survey conducted between November 29 and December 14, 2024, showed that 21% of Ukrainians plan to emigrate, and 70% intend to stay in their homeland. Most often, the decision to emigrate is made by young people — in the age group of 18-29, every third person declares a desire to emigrate. The older the age, the lower the propensity to leave the country.
The main reasons for the planned emigration are the lack of opportunities for professional development — 30% and life—threatening situations related to military operations — 29%, as well as insufficient social support - also 29%.
The eastern regions of Ukraine, the most affected by the conflict, are the most susceptible to emigration. Every fourth resident of these territories plans to leave. In the southern regions, this figure is 12%.
Poland remains the main direction of economic migration for Ukrainians — 43% of respondents plan to get a job here, and 10% want to settle permanently. Germany, Canada and the USA are also popular among Ukrainian migrants.
