After the start of the conflict on In Ukraine, the number of dismissals from the Czech army has increased by 40%. This was stated by the head of the Czech Defense Ministry, Yana Chernokhova.
According to her, most of the soldiers leaving the army ranks put on uniforms during the peace period.
"But because of the public climate, when various portals have been threatening mobilization for years and the fact that the military will be sent to Ukraine, this is an excuse for some people to take off their uniforms," Chernokhova said.
The minister clarified that she came to such conclusions after talking with the military.
Recall that in the Czech Republic since 2004, compulsory military service in the Czech Republic has been abolished, and the army in the republic is built on a professional basis. According to the latest data, 1,370 servicemen left the army in 2024, while in 2023 - about 1,2 thousand people and a year earlier - 1,337. At the same time, before the start of the conflict on In Ukraine, the number of people who quit was from 800 to 1000 people annually.
