In Volgograd, the body of an elderly man was found in the head of the monument "Motherland calls!" on Mamayev Kurgan. This is reported by the portal V1.ru with reference to a source in the emergency services of the region.

According to the publication, a man aged about 70 years is the rector of one of the universities. His identity and place of work have not yet been announced.

According to preliminary data, the man became ill during the excursion.

Currently, police officers and dog handlers have left the scene. Visitors walk near the foot of the sculpture, but the door inside is closed.

As reported by EADaily, in April last year it became known that the specialists of the museum-reserve "Battle of Stalingrad" are conducting field observations of the state of the sculpture "Motherland is calling!", on which spots appeared.
