It's a shame: Ukraine calls on Venice Film Festival to remove the flag of Russia

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications condemned the presence of the Russian flag at the Venice Film Festival. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the telegram channel.

"The Russian flag at the Venice Film Festival is nothing but a disgrace," the Foreign Ministry is outraged.

The Ukrainian ministries are convinced that providing Russia with a cultural scene is not freedom of art, but hypocrisy and indifference.

"The only thing the Venice Film Festival should do now is to get rid of the presence of Russia and the Russian flag," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summed up.

Recall, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry traditionally advocates the cancellation of Russian artists and all those who interact with Russia in the field of culture. The agency has repeatedly called for the cancellation of concerts by Russian singer Anna Netrebko, and a week ago condemned American director Woody Allen for participating in a video conference format at the events of the International Film Week in Moscow.

The Ministry of Culture and Mass Communications regularly updates the list of threats to national security by Russian singers, actors, and directors.

As EADaily reported, the 82nd Venice Festival opened on August 27 and will last until September 6. The film that opened the show was the tragicomedy of Paolo Sorrentino La Grazia (Grace). The premiere of Olivier Assayas' film "The Kremlin Wizard" with Jude Law as Vladimir Putin will take place on August 31. A documentary film by People's Artist of Russia Alexander Sokurov "Diary of a Director" will be shown outside the competition.
