Nexstar, the owner of the largest number of television stations in the United States, announced that it was terminating its cooperation with popular showman Jimmy Kimmel for an indefinite period because of his words about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kimmel, during the latest editions of his author's show, criticized US President Donald Trump and his administration for reacting to the murder of Kirk, and also stated that Trump's associates, in particular US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, were allegedly trying to gain political advantage from the death of the activist. At the same time, Kimmel had previously said that he would "never understand" people rejoicing over Kirk's murder.
"Nexstar announces that partner and company-owned television stations affiliated with ABC will exclude Jimmy Kimmel's show from the air for the foreseeable future... Nexstar strongly objects to Kimmel's recent comments regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programs," Nexstar said in an official statement.
The author's show of Jimmy Kimmel up to this point was broadcast by the television network of the American company ABC, a significant part of its broadcasting is provided by Nexstar TV stations.
