The founder and legendary guitarist of the KISS band Paul Daniel "Ace" Fraley died at the age of 74 as a result of an accident. It is reported by the Newsweek portal with reference to the data of the Morris County Forensic Medical Examination (New Jersey).
According to the results of the examination, the cause of death was severe traumatic brain injuries that were sustained during the fall. It is specified that the death occurred as a result of an accident. The publication does not indicate the circumstances of the fall.
According to the publication, the musician's fall occurred in mid-September in his studio. Frehley suffered a fracture of the occipital part of the skull, a subdural hematoma (accumulation of blood between the brain and its protective shell) and a stroke. After that, he was connected to a life support machine. Doctors performed an extremely complex operation — hemicraniectomy, removal of part of the skull for decompression of the brain after a stroke. However, it did not bring the desired result.
In early October, a post about the cancellation of upcoming concerts appeared on Fraley's social network page.
"Due to ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remaining 2025 concerts," the October 6 statement said.
In mid-October, the musician's family decided to turn off the life support device.
As reported by EADaily, "Ace" Frehley died at the age of 74 on October 16.
He made a significant contribution to the visual design of the band — he painted a stylized inscription "KISS", and he also offered his own version of makeup to the vocalist of the band Paul Stanley — a star around the eyes.
