The government of India considered offensive the attempts of European diplomats to interfere in the internal affairs of the country because of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the German edition of Spiegel, the reason for such a reaction was an article for an Indian daily newspaper written by the ambassadors of Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

In it, the conflict on Ukraine is called a cruel violation of international law. At the same time, the diplomats did not mention India, which has never condemned Russia's foreign policy.

"The Indians were surprised, if not offended, by this intervention. Delhi will not allow anything to overshadow its joy over the first visit of the leader of Russia since 2022, the article says.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been on a visit to India since December 5. In New Delhi, he held a number of negotiations, signed bilateral agreements, visited the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, took part in a business forum and launched the RT India TV channel.

As EADaily reported, a wave of indignation swept through the Western media about the cordial welcome that the Indian authorities gave to the Russian leader.
