Russian conductor of Greek origin Theodor Currentzis has already held two concerts with the musicAeterna Orchestra in Brescia and Modena (Italy), despite the active opposition of the Ukrainian Embassy in this country.
So, in early February, a post appeared on the account of the Ukrainian Embassy in Italy on a social network in which diplomats expressed "deep concern" about the admission of the conductor, who in 2014 received Russian citizenship from Russian President Vladimir Putin, to concerts in Italy.
Also, the Ukrainian diplomatic mission is saddened by the lack of response from the directorate of the Rome auditorium "Music Park" named after Ennio Morricone, where an evening of ballet stars will be held in March with the participation of People's Artist of Russia, ballerina Svetlana Zakharova, as a special guest.
At the same time, Currentzis and musicAeterna will perform in Florence today, on February 13, with Lorin Maazel's symphonic suite from fragments of Richard Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung tetralogy. The same program was previously performed in Modena and Brescia.
As EADaily reported, earlier the directorate of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Music Theater postponed two performances with the participation of ballerina Zakharova, scheduled for January 20 and 21. Zakharova's husband, violinist, People's Artist of Russia Vadim Repin, was also to participate in the performance "Pas de deux on fingers and for fingers".
Later, Repin's concert was canceled by the efforts of "Ukrainian friends" in Mannheim (Germany).
Earlier in Italy, events with the participation of conductor, People's Artist of Russia Valery Gergiev, as well as baritone, People's Artist of Russia Ildar Abdrazakov were canceled. Also, the concert of pianist, People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev with the Athens State Orchestra did not take place.
