Telegraph: The air defense of the United States and allies in the Middle East could not cope with Iran's strikes

Iran's successful actions have raised questions about the reliability of the US and its allies' air defenses, the British newspaper Telegraph writes.

According to the publication, the mistakes of the military allowed Iranian missiles to break through the air defense.

"In addition, there are questions about whether there are enough interceptor stocks to wage a long war (in the United States)," the article notes.

On Saturday, the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. Tel Aviv stated that the purpose of the strikes was to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. US President Donald Trump, in turn, announced his intention to destroy the Iranian navy and defense industry, and also called on the country's citizens to overthrow the regime.

On Sunday night, Iranian television announced the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter and daughter-in-law of the Ayatollah also became victims of attacks by the United States and Israel.

According to media reports, the missiles hit not only military facilities, but also civilian infrastructure both in the Islamic Republic and in other countries of the region. Tehran retaliates by attacking Israeli territory, as well as American bases in the Middle East.
