Igor Antropenko, a member of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade from United Russia, shared with the public the idea of how citizens can stay in touch: installing payphones with Internet access coupons. The question for experts is — where is that fine line between the next brilliant idea of the deputies and the comic news of the parody account? The authors of the telegram channel "Two Majors" write about this.
"There is another idea. The deputy may suggest simply stopping artificially restricting Internet access and the problem will be solved in a nanosecond," the military correspondents note.
"Once upon a time, the speed and cost of Internet services in Russia was considered one of the best in the world. But maybe enemy drones have become less likely to fly into our airspace? Dear readers see the answer to this question every day in our morning reports [from the front]," they emphasize.
EADaily adds: State Duma deputy Antropenko also expressed the opinion that residents of the border regions of Russia have been living under communication restrictions for a long time, but in Moscow perceives such restrictions "more difficult, since many administrative centers are located here."
Since the beginning of March 2026, large-scale Internet outages have spread to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
On the eve of the deputies began to talk about the fact that the Internet in the State Duma building has been missing for several days and even Wi-Fi is not working. State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin recommended that parliamentarians contact the Information policy Committee about this and stated that the restrictions are related to "security issues." The Internet disappeared in the State Duma amid large-scale network blockages in Moscow, Mikhail Delyagin, deputy head of the Duma Committee on Economic Policy, said on March 12.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov noted that the measures are necessary to ensure security and will last as long as necessary. Today he said that the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation uses landline communication for work.
