In France, Hitler and Zelensky will meet in the second round of local elections. This is reported by Figaro.
The center-right bloc is headed by the current mayor of the town of Arcis-sur-Aube, Charles Hittler. His rival is a representative of the ultra-right movement "Patriots" customs officer Antoine Renault-Zielinski. There was another contender in this company — Annie Soucat, but she has already dropped out of the race. In the first round, Itler was in the lead by a small margin.
"This is complete madness. All my life, my last name has been joked about from time to time. Sometimes people drew mustaches on my election posters. It's never been a big deal. But now it's out of control. I saw articles on the Internet where it was said that "37% of Arsi residents are Nazis!“. My wife is in tears," said the mayor, quoted by the BBC.
Social networks were flooded with jokes about "Hitler's battle with Zelensky," which caused a wave of unwanted attention to the town, the BBC notes.
The mayor, meanwhile, complains that the discussion revolves only around surnames, and few people are interested in the politics of the city.
