The Prime Minister of Slovenia announced the victory of his party in the parliamentary elections

Slovenian Prime Minister and leader of the ruling Freedom movement (GS) Robert Golob announced the victory of his party in the parliamentary elections, but noted that negotiations on the future ruling coalition will not be easy, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reports.

According to the election commission, the ruling GS is leading in the elections to the National Assembly (parliament) of Slovenia with 28.58% of the vote, and the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) of former Prime Minister Janez Janshi is lagging behind with 28.10% according to the results of counting 99.73% of the votes. This gives GS 29 mandates out of 80, and SDS 28 mandates.

"Negotiations on the ruling coalition will be tough… There is only one thing that Svoboda will not negotiate about, and that is Slovenian sovereignty. We will not allow foreigners to rule," the agency quoted Golob as saying at his headquarters.

Yansha said earlier that due to the small difference in the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, the future cabinet will not be able to ensure the stability of the government.

According to preliminary data, five more parties are overcoming the 4% threshold and representatives of the Hungarian and Italian national minorities will receive two mandates.
