Stand-up comedian Dmitry Romanov told about the case in Portugal, when he was scolded by a fish seller in a store. He disclosed the situation in his telegram channel.

"Recently, a fish seller in a store scolded that I have been living in Portugal and still don't speak Portuguese. He scolded me in English," Romanov recalls .

The seller stated that the next time Romanov comes to the store, he should speak Portuguese.

"I won't come to him again," the comedian promised.

He noted that many people call it respect to know the language of the country you came to. Romanov believes that respect and knowledge of the language are different things.

"Yes, I have been living here for two and a half years and have not learned the language. And I don't see anything wrong with that," the artist stressed.

Romanov noted that he is not yet sure of his desire to stay in Portugal forever, so investing time and energy in the local language is not clear for him yet.

As EADaily reported, earlier Romanov warned "fresh" emigrants or those wishing to move that one should not have illusions about a new place and the sudden finding of happiness there. He added that he did not become happier after moving to another country, but now life is getting easier and easier every day.
