The Moscow court has decided to ban the popular entertainment website "YAplakal" on the territory of the Russian Federation. The verdict was delivered on April 23 and will come into force on May 28. The plaintiff in the case was the interdistrict prosecutor, who asked to recognize the information published on the portal as prohibited for distribution in the country.
After the decision comes into force, Roskomnadzor will have to add the resource to the register of banned sites. At the time of writing this material, the portal is not yet on this list, and it continues to open as usual.
"YAplakal" was created on May 12, 2004 by three graduates of the Perm Physics and Mathematics Gymnasium. Initially, the site was conceived as a platform for communication — at that time in Russia has not yet had major social networks. The resource works exclusively on user content, it publishes "photojabs", funny videos, jokes and collections of photos.
In 2014 and 2015, the community was awarded the Runet Prize in the Popular Vote nomination as a Runet Community, and in 2018 as an Internet Project.
