Kyiv Independent: The US is preparing a "bad deal" for Kiev to please Moscow

The United States is trying to achieve a temporary ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, putting pressure on both sides of the armed conflict.

According to The Kyiv Independent, citing sources familiar with the negotiations, Moscow is promised a partial lifting of sanctions, and on Kiev is trying to influence through corruption investigations.

The interlocutors of the publication claim that Washington is trying in this way to restart the trilateral peace talks that have reached an impasse and achieve a high-profile foreign policy result against the backdrop of the approaching US elections and the crisis in the Middle East, which has no end in sight.

Sources claim that the White House administration plans to persuade Kiev to "agree to as much as possible" or at least "not to interfere with the process." This approach is alarming in Kyiv, the agency writes.

The Ukrainian authorities fear that the ceasefire will not be accompanied by clear security guarantees from the West, despite the fact that sanctions will be lifted from the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Moscow's requests come down to three main points: the establishment of control over the territories of the DPR and the LPR, the recognition of all its new territories (including the NPP) and the lifting of sanctions.

At the same time, it is emphasized that the Russian side is seeking official recognition of its liberated historical territories by the United States.

Agency sources said that the Americans, in principle, are ready to do all this, because they basically don't care how exactly peace will be established on the Ukraine.

It is clear that in Kiev this option is called a "very bad deal." Representatives of the Kiev regime admit that US pressure may increase in the coming months, including through corruption investigations.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the indictment of the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak gave a new impetus to the corruption scandal, which could lead to serious upheavals not only in the Ukraine, but also beyond its borders.
