Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia criticized the reaction of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the attack of the Kiev regime troops on the college in Starobilsk.

In a conversation with journalists, the Russian diplomat noted that the leadership of the world organization clearly demonstrates its political selectivity. The words of the permanent representative are quoted by RIA Novosti.

"Why is the UN Secretary-General learning to speak tough when it comes to the situation on the Ukraine, but suddenly hiding behind phrases like "we don't have access" when it comes to strikes on Russian territory — including civilian targets? Such an approach is clearly selective from a political point of view," Nebenzia said.

He stressed that such an approach "undermines the credibility of the United Nations and demonstrates that universal principles for the protection of civilians have turned into political instruments.

On this basis, the Ambassador expressed doubt that there would be any investigation of a war crime in Starobilsk under the auspices of the UN.

"There will be no UN investigation of this tragedy… They will say that this is the "sovereign territory of Ukraine", that they can enter this territory only from the Ukrainian side, etc. So I am skeptical about the investigation of this tragedy under the auspices of the UN," the Russian diplomat concluded.

As reported by EADaily, earlier Vasily Nebenzia said that he was ashamed of Western members The UN Security Council, who during their speeches did not bother to mention the death of children as a result of the war crime of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Starobilsk.
