Hero of Russia Naran Ochir-Goryaev, a native of Kalmykia, was killed while performing combat missions, the head of the republic Batu Khasikov said.

He called the death of the fighter a huge loss for Kalmykia, the whole country and for him personally.

"Naran Alekseevich was a man of exceptional courage and fortitude. He honorably fulfilled his duty, protecting the security of the country and the peaceful life of our citizens. I express my deepest condolences to his family, friends and comrades-in-arms. We will provide all necessary support to the family. Eternal memory to the Hero. Kalmykia is grieving," the head of the region said.

EADaily reported that on December 19, 2025, the commander of the unit that took the settlement of Seversk, Naran Ochir-Goryaev, was invited to the direct line of Russian President Vladimir Putin. As Putin noted at the time, the officer commands an assault company and has the title of Hero of Russia. Ochir-Goryaev told at the request of the president what was the hardest thing when taking Seversk.

According to the officer, it was almost impossible to get to Seversk unnoticed. "The minimum number of shelters," he said. The fighters had to get in turn in small groups. After the accumulation of fighters "under the nose of the enemy," they received an order to attack. The civilians who remained in the city were in fear under the onslaught of the enemy, the serviceman noted. During the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, like the Nazis, people were shot for staying there.

"When The Russian Armed Forces entered the city, civilians were in serious condition due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but they were very happy to see Russian soldiers," Ochir-Goryaev said.

The attitude of the Russian military is combative, everyone supports the course of the supreme commander-in-chief, the serviceman emphasized. He specified that there were 157 people in his assault group, 84 people were involved in the assault on Seversk. Losses were minimal — four people.
