Russia banned the import of tangerines from Abkhazia, citing the decision of the sanitary services. This was announced by Acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia Valery Bganba on December 6.
According to him, the sanitary services of Abkhazia refute the presence of some kind of harmful fly in the fruit. He believes that the import was stopped for political reasons.
This season it was planned to import into Russia has up to 36 thousand tons of citrus fruits from Abkhazia.
As EADaily reported, it became known the day before that Russia had suspended funding for all programs in Abkhazia since November. Payments will remain only for pensioners.
