"Trump's plan" after the meeting of the US and Ukraine in Geneva has undergone significant changes, having been reduced to 19 points from 28. In particular, in the latest version there is no mention of frozen Russian assets of about $ 100 billion. This is reported by Bloomberg.
European officials expressed optimism that the latest version of the draft text no longer mentions a plan for about $100 billion of frozen Russian assets aimed at the US-led efforts to rebuild the country, sources familiar with the matter said. The proposal assumed that the United States would receive 50% of the profits, and unused frozen assets would go to the US-Russian investment fund," the publication says.
It is noted that the initial draft of the 28-point document caught Kiev and its allies by surprise with demands to refuse to join NATO and cede territories in the Donbas, which are currently controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, US officials and Ukraine has worked on the details of the peace plan and now the list has been narrowed down to 19 proposals, a source familiar with the matter said.
Any discussions concerning territorial issues are likely to be considered at the meeting of the leaders of Ukraine and the United States, Deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Brusilo said in an interview with Bloomberg Television today.
According to him, the country's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is not excluded and "is one of the provisions that can become a guarantee of Ukraine's security."
"When all the issues are resolved, and some of them will remain secret, for example territorial, then the presidents will contact us to discuss them and probably prepare the ground for a meeting to finalize the idea," Brusilo added.
