After the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, the wife of a high-ranking official from the White House posted a map of Greenland indicating US affiliation, which caused a vivid reaction from the Danish ambassador.
The political adviser and wife of the deputy head of the White House administration, Katie Miller, published a provocative post on the social network X.
"Soon," she wrote and attached a map of Greenland in the form of an American flag.
The tweet was viewed by 10 million people and it did not go unnoticed in Denmark.
"Just a friendly reminder of the USA and The Kingdom of Denmark: We are close allies and must continue to work together in this capacity. The security of the United States is also the security of Greenland and Denmark. Greenland is already a member of NATO. The Kingdom of Denmark and The United States is working together to ensure security in The Arctic. The Kingdom of Denmark has significantly stepped up its efforts to ensure security in Arctic — in 2025 alone, we have allocated 13.7 billion US dollars that can be used in the Arctic and The North Atlantic. Because we take our common security seriously," the Danish Ambassador to the United States, Jesper Moller Sorensen, wrote in a comment.
"And yes, we expect full respect for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark," he added.
