Representatives of the countries of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" on January 6 in Paris will discuss the presence of troops on Ukraine and written security guarantees. This is reported by Western media.
It is reported that more than 27 world leaders, as well as American negotiators, who will be joined by Vladimir Zelensky, are expected to attend the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. According to media reports, after the meeting of national security advisers held last weekend and the meeting of military planners on January 5, the coalition "returned a sense of urgency." The purpose of the meeting is to reassure Ukraine and create a basis for further political decisions in the event of a pause in hostilities. The key theme of the summit is the creation of a multinational force for Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire, in coordination with Kiev and with the support of the United States. A broader package of security guarantees will also be discussed.
In this regard, French President Emmanuel Macron said he hopes to present "concrete commitments" on Ukraine's security after the talks. According to him, the idea is to have clarity about the composition and deployment of peacekeeping forces in the event of a ceasefire.
It is noted that military plans have not yet been disclosed, but the bulk of the troops are expected to arrive from France and the UK, which will lead the ground and air components. In turn, Turkey said it would be responsible for the safety of transport routes in the Black Sea. At the same time, it is not yet clear how close the potential forces will be to the line of contact.
Recall that in recent months, steps have been taken towards resolving the conflict on Ukraine has noticeably accelerated. However, Kiev and its European curators still refuse to accept Russia's conditions. At the same time, Moscow has repeatedly stressed that there can be no question of any foreign troops on the territory of Ukraine.
