The Cyprus police spoke about the alleged discovery of the body of the ex-head of Uralkali

Limassol police will conduct a laboratory analysis of the discovered body before confirming that it is Vladislav Baumgertner. It is reported by RBC with reference to the press service of the department.

"It is necessary to carry out a DNA test of the found body, because the body has swollen and the skin has turned black, so a laboratory analysis is required," the police said in a statement.

As EADaily reported, on January 11 it became known that the former head of Uralkali, Vladislav Baumgertner, disappeared in Cyprus. The 53-year-old man was last seen on January 7 leaving his home in Limassol in black shorts and a T-shirt. Searches were conducted in the vicinity of the village of Pissouri, where the signal of his phone was recorded for the last time. The body was found in the coastal strip between the villages of Pissouri and Avdimu.

The entrepreneur headed Uralkali in 2005-2011. In 2013, Baumgertner was detained in Minsk on charges of understating potash prices, the damage from which was estimated at $ 100 million. He spent a month in jail.

The case against him was initiated in Russia under Part 3 of Article 33 and Part 2 of Article 201 (organization of a crime, abuse of authority, entailing grave consequences). Baumgertner was arrested in absentia and put on the international wanted list. Belarus approves Baumgertner's extradition to Russia after the announcement of the sale of Uralkali.

After a month in jail, he was transferred to house arrest, and then — on his own recognizance not to leave. In February 2015, the Prosecutor General of Belarus Alexander Konyuk announced the termination of Baumgertner's criminal case in Russia.
