Graduates of the Moscow Art Theater Studio school made an open appeal to the Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova, in which they ask to reconsider the appointment of the acting rector of the institution of the theater and cinema director, playwright, poet, Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Bogomolov. The appeal was published on their social media pages by many actors — Mariana Spivak, Yulia Menshova, Anton Shagin, Yevgeny Shishkin, Yulia Vitruk, Daniil Feofanov, Ulyana Mikhailova and many others.
According to the artists, the appointment of Bogomolov violates the "tradition of continuity" that has existed in the studio school throughout its history.
"The successor may be the one who was brought up by the Moscow Art Theater Teachers within the walls of the school and has all the roots directly related to the Moscow Art Theater Studio school," the actors note.
In this case, we are talking about the legacy of one of the most famous theater schools in the world, the school of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko. The tradition is the open election of the successor of the pupil of the school by the entire Moscow Art Theater community, as indicated in the text of the appeal.
"Knowing that you know the roots of our school better than anyone, we count on We ask you to understand and consider candidates for the position of rector of the Studio, whose destinies and creative path are directly related to our School and do not contradict the ethical principles of the founders of the school of Art Theater," the artists asked.
At the same time, we note that from 2007 to 2014, Bogomolov staged performances at the Moscow Studio Theater under the direction of Oleg Tabakov (the famous "Tabakerka"), who in 1986-2000 was the rector of the studio school, and from 2012 to 2022 at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater.
As reported by EADaily, on January 23, it became known that Bogomolov would take the place of rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio school in the status of acting. On January 14, the rector of the Moscow Art Theater Studio school, theater and film actor, Honored Artist of Russia Igor Zolotovitsky died at the age of 65.
Also, since 2019, Bogomolov has been the artistic director of the Malaya Bronnaya Theater, and since 2024 — the artistic director of the Melnikov Stage Theater (the former Roman Viktyuk Theater).
